Kerri: Maybe if you get a chance you can visit my site and go to my bird page and help me identify a bird I can't find in my bird books. It is at the bottom of the page. Please take a minute, explore also and sign the guest book. I'd appreciate it.
Kerri: Hi, The owl is gorgeous! Your work sounds very interesting and I bet heart tugging!
Melissa: Bravo for all the hard work you guys are doing up there! I am a wildlife/wildbird lover, myself, and have worked to turn my yard into a sanctuary for both. We also do unofficial dog/cat rescue, helping strays find good homes...we just don't have the connections that the adoption groups do! But we've homed over 15 so far, so I guess we're doing okay, LOL. Thanks for all the hard work you do, for all the sleepless nights, and for all the sacrifices...the animals appreciate it, and so do us hum
Jilly: Hi, cool site. Being an environment concerned freak I value the work you guys do. Thanks.
Fred: Cool site my friend. I am an avid outdoorsman, and write poetry dedicated to the plight of MotherNature and her resources. Nice to see and have peoples like you doing your part to help her along. Keep up the good work..
Dennis : We have open our doors to countless Parrots and puppy mill dogs. God Bless you real good !
Annie: Hey! Cool joural!

It's been a while

I am very pleased that everyone has been enjoying my journal.

I know it's been awhile since I have updated my journal and it's long overdue so here's an update

Bart and I have moved since I last wrote and we are now in Niagara County. Bart and I will start doing our eduational programs in January so I will be posting on calendar where we will be next. During the winter months Bart is off from "working" as I call it and I on the other hand have a part time job. So life goes on and Bart and I are looking forward to starting a new year with our educational programs.

Till next time

A very strange baby songbird season and more programs with Bart

Every year I care for about 200 baby songbirds. I am not bragging or trying to impress anyone. BUT, this season is way off. I have had only one delivery from Erie County SPCA. Usually by now I have had 1/2 of my numbers and the babies are reaady to start weathering outside. Well, I have a grand total of 4 birds inhouse right now ready to start spending time outside.

Strange season! I am hoping that the babies are being taken care of by Mom and Dad!

Bart is scheduled to be on Grand Island for their craft fair this Saturday and Sunday 10-5. I will be there both days with another rehabber and his Screech Owl. We will be located in the Town Hall parking lot.

Did I tell you I have a phobia of bridges? Maybe next time I post I will go into it. But right now I am trying to figure out how to get on Grand Island without crossing two very large and high BRIDGES!!!!!!

Flight of Our non-flighted birds

  • Mood:

Our programs are sure interesting. We were doing a program in Niagara Falls and across the street is a company called Flight of Angels. It's a tethered hot air balloon ride. The ride goes up 400ft. I met the Managers from there and they were gracious enough to let us take our education birds for a ride.

It has always been my wish to have Bart take a flight however unconventional. If you are ever in the Falls please stop by and support Flight of Angels. It is a great ride with wonderful people running the business.

I set up a special page with photos of our flight:

We will be updating our program calendar with new programs for the rest of June and July.

Local Petco has Bart and Friends visit their store

Well we just completed our two day event at Petco. We talked about the birds of prey and how they came to us. Traveling was not the best we had an unexpected snow storm. But, everything went  great. We were passing out free bumper stickers to the parents and kids. I have two new pictures of Bart.

We will be traveling to Buffalo on Friday for two classes of sixth graders. Enjoy the pictures
