This journal is about the life of a wildlife rehabilitator. This is a view of what goes on in rehab of injured or orphaned wildlife. I hope you find this interesting. I certainly love what I do and have been rehabbing for ten years now. Enjoy your stay.
I am very pleased that everyone has been enjoying my journal.
I know it's been awhile since I have updated my journal and it's long overdue so here's an update
Bart and I have moved since I last wrote and we are now in Niagara County. Bart and I will start doing our eduational programs in January so I will be posting on calendar where we will be next. During the winter months Bart is off from "working" as I call it and I on the other hand have a part time job. So life goes on and Bart and I are looking forward to starting a new year with our educational programs.
Till next time ![]()
Well, It's has been a really busy season with programs with Bart. We have completed all the scheduled programs including Niagara County Fair.
We don't have anything scheduled right now but we will have a couple programs in January.
If anyone wants to have us come to there location and you are in Erie or Niagara County just email me
I have a new email address: wildones@frontiernet.net
Thanks
Every year I care for about 200 baby songbirds. I am not bragging or trying to impress anyone. BUT, this season is way off. I have had only one delivery from Erie County SPCA. Usually by now I have had 1/2 of my numbers and the babies are reaady to start weathering outside. Well, I have a grand total of 4 birds inhouse right now ready to start spending time outside.
Strange season! I am hoping that the babies are being taken care of by Mom and Dad!
Bart is scheduled to be on Grand Island for their craft fair this Saturday and Sunday 10-5. I will be there both days with another rehabber and his Screech Owl. We will be located in the Town Hall parking lot.
Did I tell you I have a phobia of bridges? Maybe next time I post I will go into it. But right now I am trying to figure out how to get on Grand Island without crossing two very large and high BRIDGES!!!!!!
Our programs are sure interesting. We were doing a program in Niagara Falls and across the street is a company called Flight of Angels. It's a tethered hot air balloon ride. The ride goes up 400ft. I met the Managers from there and they were gracious enough to let us take our education birds for a ride.
It has always been my wish to have Bart take a flight however unconventional. If you are ever in the Falls please stop by and support Flight of Angels. It is a great ride with wonderful people running the business.
I set up a special page with photos of our flight:

We will be updating our program calendar with new programs for the rest of June and July.
Bart and other birds of prey will be at The Winter Gardens in Niagara Falls.
It should be a great day the weather is going to be 65F. FINALLY
Anyone in the area please stop by and say hello and pick up a free bumper sticker
Well,
Since I last posted my truck broke down. Bart presented 2 more programs and we are heading out to Summit Park Mall 10-1 April 23rd. At this rate I will have my mandatory 12 programs done for the year before baby bird season starts. I also have some scheduled for May,June and July. But, that's too far in the future. If anyone is in the area on the 23rd please stop by and meet Bart!
Well we just completed our two day event at Petco. We talked about the birds of prey and how they came to us. Traveling was not the best we had an unexpected snow storm. But, everything went great. We were passing out free bumper stickers to the parents and kids. I have two new pictures of Bart.

We will be traveling to Buffalo on Friday for two classes of sixth graders. Enjoy the pictures

I received our first injured bird for the 2005 season. This Adult Male Turkey was down in a backyard unable to stand . His feet were extremely swollen. He has no external injuries.

We attended our first program of the year with Bart. We had a great group of Cub Scouts.
We are currently scheduling our 2005 season for wildlife programs. Any organization that would like us to come out and give a program for the 2005 season please call 716-941-0309 . The program is approximately and hour. The cost of the program is donations instead of a set fee. Items for the donations are set up at time of schedule.
